THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A letter-bomb exploded in a post office in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, triggering panic in the city. President A P J Abdul Kalam is expected to visit the city a few hours from now.

The police said that no one was injured in the low-intensity explosion.

A sealed envelop, which had some explosive material inside, went off at Manacaud post office here on Thursday morning, they said.

Security has been beefed up in the capital city in view of Kalam's arrival here later in the day.
