Leopard attacks and injures woman near IIT Guwahati

A woman was attacked and seriously injured by a leopard when she had gone to collect firewoood in the hills near Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati in North Guwahati area today, police said.
   
The woman along with another had gone to Moriapath hills to collect firewood when they were attacked by the leopard in which one of them was critically injured while the other managed to escape with minor injuries.
   
The injured woman has been rushed to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
   
Panic prevails in the area where several educational institutions are located.
   
Forest officials have rushed to the area and efforts are being made to locate the leopard and capture it.
