Gujarat’s oldest Mahajan family, the Lalbhais, is set
to enter the state’s booming realty sector. Arvind Limited, the company promoted by the family, has submitted to Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA)

a proposal for a massive township near Moti Bhoyan, Kalol.
The Adani group and Safal are among the other business houses which have submitted to AUDA proposals for townships after the new township policy was announced late last year.

Chief executive officer (CEO) of Arvind Real Estate, Kamal Singal, told DNA that the Kalol proposal is going to be Arvind’s first real estate project in the state. “After the new township policy was announced, we decided to submit the proposal. We plan to construct 1 BHK to 3 BHK residential units in the proposed township,” Singal said.

Arvind’s proposed township is expected to come up over 100 hectares. The company’s proposal is one of the three new township proposals AUDA has received after the state government’s new township policy was announced.

“Of the three new projects, Adani’s proposal for a township spread over 572 hectares is the biggest one,” said an AUDA official. “Adani’s township would be spread over Kharej, Khodiar, Dantai and Jaspur.”

AUDA now has six proposals for townships. Besides the three new proposals, three others were pending with it from before the announcement of the new policy was made.

Three other proposals — two from Ganesh Housing for townships in Goradia and Godhavi in Sanand taluka, and one from Sahara for a township in Shella — were submitted before the new policy was announced.
