A lady police constable who first inspected British teenager Scarlet Eden Keeling's body told the court today that the teenager had bruise marks on her face when she was found dead on Anjuna shore.

Reshma Naik, a lady constable, said that there was a froth in her mouth while she was lying on the sand. The lady constable today deposed before the Goa Children's Court president B P Deshapande.

She has been considered as a crucial eyewitness in the case as she had accompanied police Sub-Inspector Lakshi Amonkar, when the news about unknown body was confirmed by two constables to Anjuna police station on February 18, 2008.

CBI has chargesheeted two locals - Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho, in connection with drugging, sexually abusing and leaving scarlet to die on the shore.

The statement given before the judge said that PSI Amonkar instructed her to check the body since it was of a female. "I found that the said body was naked. I also noticed one mark of scratch or abrasion on the left forehead above the eyebrow and also on the left eyelid. Similarly there were abrasions on both knees," Reshma said.

"I also observed piercing near the chin portion below the lower lip. So also on the stomach and on the breast. There were studs in both years," Reshma recalled.

She said that examination of the deceased's private parts did not show any injury.

The court today also got testimony of the first ever public witness in this sensational case. Baptist D'Souza, a shack owner, who owns a business on Anjuna shore said that he saw the body while he was having a morning walk.

"I am having one cook whose name is Nirdosh from Nepal who came to my shack after jogging from the beach. He told me that one lady foreigner's body is found lying near Luis shack," Baptist said.

Baptist also told the court that he had known Scarlett "two to four months prior to the incident".

The eye witness, however, said that he knew Scarlet's boyfriend Julio Lobo, since last five years and met him in Siolim village and it was through him that he knew Scarlet.

Baptist said that Julio was frantically inquiring about Scarlet on the day when she was found dead. "I told Julio that one foreign lady is found dead on the beach and asked him to very it," he added.

Even as Goa police was the first investigating agency, Baptist statement was recorded only by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths in June 2008.

CBI was handed over the sensational death probe in June 2008 after Goa police filed a chargesheet on May 31, 2008 before Goa children's court.
