Ranchi: The Income Tax department and Enforcement Directorate have asked the hospital, where Madhu Koda has been admitted, to inform them before discharging the beleaguered former Jharkhand chief minister, facing probe for alleged hawala transactions.

Koda, who got himself admitted to the ICU of the hospital, has been shifted to a room.

"We have been directed by both the IT and ED to inform them about his health bulletin and also tell them before we discharge Koda," PD Sinha, medical superintendent of the Abdur Razzak Weavers' Memorial Hospital, Appollo Group, said today.

"He was shifted from the ICU to a room in the ward around noon. He still has slight pain in his stomach," the medical superintendent said.

Koda, facing charges of hawala and illegal investments to the tune of more than Rs2,000 crore, got himself admitted to the ICU of the hospital here on Tuesday after he complained of stomachache.

The Income Tax department had yesterday sealed a room and almirahs at Koda's residence after raiding the premises for five days.

Last night, IT officials had said they would resume their investigation once Koda became medically fit.

Koda and some others have been booked by the Enforcement Directorate over a fortnight ago.
