Lucknow: Raids at four locations here in connection with former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda's ill-gotten millions have blown the lid on large-scale corruption in the state government. Contracts worth hundreds of crores of rupees were awarded to Hyderabad-based infrastructure giant IVRCL Infrastructures and Projects Ltd, where Koda invested his money.
Income-Tax (I-T) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials had raided IVRCL general manager DK Srivastava's home and office on Saturday. Seized documents reveal the company bagged huge contracts during the Mulayam Singh and present Mayawati regime. The IVRCL website also claims of having bagged rural electrification contracts from the UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL), which sources said grossed over Rs1,000 crore. UPPCL chairman Navneet Sehgal said the contracts had been awarded under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana five years ago. The team also found a photo album with pictures of some BSP ministers and politicians attending a party by Srivastava.
Jewellery worth Rs30 lakh and computers were also seized.
