Kirit Somaiya conspiring to tarnish my image: Ashok Gehlot

With the Supreme Court rejecting a PIL levelling corruption charges against him, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today said his predecessor Vasundhara Raje was behind these PILs and accused her along with another BJP leader Kirit Somaiya of conspiring to tarnish his image.

Terming the rejection of the PIL against him by the apex court as the victory of truth, he said Raje was behind all the litigation directed against him.

Talking to reporters outside his office, Gehlot also accused Somaiya of misusing the RTI Act to bring disrepute to the state government.

"It is the victory of truth (SC rejection of PIL). Thirty years ago, people tried to malign my image but truth came before all. Again, efforts were made to tarnish my image by BJP leaders but all in vain," he said.

"BJP is levelling corruption charges against me but it was BJP under whose regime corruption was rampant in Rajasthan," he said.

He also questioned Raje's connection with Lalit Modi and said she should clarify whether the suspended IPL CEO was hiding in her house in London.
