Kiran Bedi stresses on changes in education, health for strong India

Former top police officer Kiran Bedi has stressed on the need for effective changes in both, education and health sectors to have strong India in future.

Talking to reporters here last evening, Bedi, the first IPS woman officer of the country, said that country's educational system is very poor as nobody takes care of the children living in the slum and rural sector.

"I have took lead through India Vision Foundation's 'School after School' programme to provide education to the children, who leave it half way," Bedi said during an event at city-based Ashoka Universal School.

Bedi claimed that thousands of students were given proper direction through her drive.

"The foundation is providing education to the children living in various localities in the cities, and is also planning to provide scholarship to one thousand students. I'm expecting co-operation from social organisations," Bedi said.

When asked about the present condition of police force in the country, Bedi said, "Their condition presently is poor, and all states are neglecting it in terms of providing them residences, proper pay scales and other amenities, even though they are involved in civic security."
