Kerala government announces solatium to kin of bus mishap victims

Ten persons, including four women and a child, drowned when a private bus carrying 40 passengers plunged into Meenachil river at Kottayam yesterday.

The Kerala government today said it will pay a solatium of Rs3 lakh each to the families of 10 passengers, killed in Kottayam bus accident.
    
The government will also pay Rs5 lakh compensation to the family of Sateesh, a local, who died while engaged in the relief work, a press release said.
    
Additional chief secretary P Prabhakaran has been asked to conduct a probe into the accident, the release said.
    
Meanwhile, Kerala Assembly condoled the deaths and adjourned the House for the day.
