Junior doctors to go on strike in Bhopal

Health services in government medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh is likely to be affected with the junior doctors determined to go on strike from tomorrow, even as the government termed it illegal.
    
"We will not go back on our decision to go on strike from tomorrow in support of various demands including hike in stipend and reduction in post-graduation fee among others," Madhya Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (MPJDA), president, Dr KK Prajapati told reporters in Bhopal.
    
However, the state government has issued a warning to the junior doctors that if they go ahead with the strike, then their registration will be canceled and they would be considered as expelled from their respective medical colleges.
    
The state government said that in the past six years their stipend has been revised thrice with the last hike being given last year itself. Despite this, the proposal to hike the stipend is under consideration, it said.

As far as the issue of post-graduation fee is concerned then it was fixed at Rs35,000 annually with the consent of the students only and hence, rolling it back is not justified, the government said.
