Talks are on between Jharkhand and West Bengal police to draw up a strategy for a joint operation against Maoists whose strategy is to escape to one of the states if there is an assault against them in the other.

"Jharkhand police and West Bengal police are discussing about a joint operation against the Maoists soon," Jharkhand director general of police Neyaz Ahmed told reporters here.

Asked whether the operation would be named 'Green Hunt', he said there was no such name.

"What is important is operations against the Maoists, which have been continuing in Jharkhand and will continue in future too," he said.

He held a meeting of the police superintendents of Maoist-affected Gumla, Lohardaga and Latehar districts and instructed them to take necessary measures to deal with the menace and launch a joint operation at the earliest, police said.
