BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said his party, if voted to power in Uttar Pradesh, would provide jobs to one crore youths in the state.

Addressing an election rally, he alleged the people of the UP were most backward as the ruling BSP had encouraged corruption in the state.

The people became poorer but the BSP leaders and workers turned rich, the BJP leader further alleged.

He said BSP supremo Mayawati, who rode to power on the slogan of removing goondaraj, inducted criminals into her government.

She was now misleading the people by showing them the door as elections neared, Gadkari said.

He alleged wrong economic policies and caste-based politics were responsible for the state's backwardness.

The BJP leader said after coming to power his party would generate employment for one crore youths in the state.

Later, talking to reporters Gadkari exuded confidence the BJP would form government in the state on its own.

He said the BJP would make UP a number one state after assuming office.

On the reservation issue, Gadkari opposed quota within the quota.

He said the Constitution did not allow religion-based reservation.
