Barring Udhampur district, bandh call given by Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) to protest against chief minister Omar Abdullah's remarks on the crisis in the Valley in the state Legislative Assembly evoked little response.

Shops and business establishments remained closed in Udhampur and Ramnagar towns of Udhampur district and traffic
was very less on the roads in support of the bandh call given by JKNPP, which boycotted the Assembly session in Srinagar.

The students took to streets and closed the schools in Udhampur town in support of the call.

In Samba district, shops and business establishments were also closed at a few places.

"We condemn the anti-national, anti-India and communally provocative statement of Omar Abdullah in Legislative Assembly," JKNPP State President, Balwant Singh Mankotia said, adding by speaking in this manner he had violated the oath of office as the chief minister.

Omar should be dismissed as a chief minister as he had triggered the fire of separatism soon after taking over as the
chief minister, Singh said.

However, rest of Jammu region, particular Jammu city, bandh evoked little response.

"There was no untoward incident reported from any where in Jammu region in wake of the bandh call," police Control Room officials said.

Effigies of the chief minister Omar Abdullah were burnt by the students in Jammu.
