The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) appears to be on the verge of solving the much talked about Amit Jethava murder that rocked the city on July 20. The DCB, which had reportedly questioned several people, has detained four of them. However, it could not be confirmed if the four had been arrested.

According to sources, the DCB has detained four people, including a police constable. The constable has been identified as Bahadursingh Vadher who works at Gir Gadhadha police station in Junagadh district.

Apart from that, the police have detained one Sanjay who was working at Diu check-post. The police have also detained a close relative of a BJP leader and are hunting for one Shailesh Joshi, a resident of Sami-Harij of Patan district.

The police zeroed in on these suspects on the basis of call records. “We first traced the phone number of Vadher and after that the phone number of Sanjay too was found,” a source in DCB said. The source also said that a joint team of DCB and Sola police was working on the case.

“From the very first day, it was clear that the modus operandi to kill Jethava matched with that of Saurashtra gangs,” a source said.
A senior DCB official said that they may declare the names of the assailants by Tuesday though a few of the accused were still absconding. “However, we are yet to know the exact motive behind the murder,” he said.
