Patna: The JD(U) general secretary, Shivananda Tiwari today appealed to the Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar and former state party chief, Rajiv Ranjan Singh to bury their differences in the larger interest of the party.
"Now it is time for both Nitish Kumar and Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh to sink their differences. If they continue to be at loggerheads, the opposition parties will take advange of the situation in this election year," Tiwari told reporters here.
Tiwari said Singh, who recently resigned from the post of state presidentship following differences with Nitish Kumar, was not alone responsible for the bitter relationship between the two. Nitish Kumar was also to be blamed for the internal bickering.
"Kumar should realise that we are the partners and stakeholders of the party and have worked really hard in the formation of the party and not a threat to him," Tiwari said.
He said Kumar should not hold him and Lallan Singh as leaders of Brahmins and Bhumihars only. If the opposition managed to take advantage of the differences between the "two friends" (Lallan and Nitish), it would go not only against the interest of the NDA but also the people of Bihar.
Tiwari appealed to the people of Bihar to provide another chance to Nitish Kumar so that the works intiated by the chief minister for the development of the state could be translated into reality.
Tiwari said despite AICC general secretary, Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to Bihar, the fortunes of the Congress would not improve and its participation in the 2010 assembly elections would only help the RJD-LJP combine.
The fight for supermacy during the upcoming assembly elections would be limited only to Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar and Congress would not be able to make the fight even triangular, Tiwari said.
