The ruling JD(U) in Bihar today accused the RJD-LJP alliance of "trying to push the state back to the phase of jungle raj" by projecting Lalu Prasad as its chief ministerial candidate in the coming assembly elections.

"By projecting Lalu as its chief ministerial candidate, the RJD-LJP combine want to push the state back to the jungle raj, anarchy and chaos it witnessed during the 15 year-long rule of the Lalu-Rabri duo," state JD(U) chief Vijay Choudhary told reporters here.

He was commenting on the seat-sharing agreement reached between the two parties in New Delhi yesterday during which Ramvilas Paswan announced that Prasad would be the alliance's candidate for chief minister, while his own brother Pashupati Kumar Paras would be projected as deputy chief minister.

"Corruption, misrule and anarchy will once again prevail and halt the state which is on the path of development and is set to emerged as a developed state by 2015," Choudhary alleged.

He asked Paswan to explain before the people "what had compelled him to accept Lalu Prasad, tainted in multi-crore rupees fodder scam, as alliance's chief ministerial nominee."

"Paswan should also explain why he has backtracked on his old stand of making a Muslim CM of Bihar," Choudhary asked.

He claimed that people knew the "real faces" of Prasad and Paswan and would ensure the RJD-LJP alliance to bite dust.
