The Janmarg Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) has set records by winning national and international accolades. Now, it is set to guide half a dozen Indian cities on similar local transport systems.
A one-day workshop will be held in the city on March 3 with the aim of providing an opportunity for participants to understand the approach of the BRTS and the various issues involved in its planning and implementation.

The event will see presence of urban transport experts from the World Bank Ke Fang and OP Agarwal apart from other dignitaries. Municipal Commisisoner of Ahmedabad IP Gautam will also be present to deliver inaugural lecture.

Madhav Pai, a technical engineer who is co-ordinating the event said the workshop will present a perspective of Janmarg BRTS before the participants so that issues and challenges in implementing such systems can be understood. "The workshop would basically focus on capacity building for participant cities. It will also see discussions on sustainable technology for bus systems and developing non-motorised facilities in the cities," said Pai.
