Jammu-Srinagar National Highway closed for traffic

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed for traffic today due to snowfall at Jawahar tunnel, about 200 km from here.
   
There was heavy snowfall on Banihal-Jawahar tunnel-Qazigund sector of the highway, making the road very slippery, traffic police officials said.
   
Over 300 to 400 vehicles are stranded at various points of the highway.
   
Personnel of the Border Roads Organisation have been pressed into service to clear the highway of snow.
