Amjad Hussain Malik, 39, could have passed off as any other government official. The arrest of this agriculture officer from Kashtiwar on Jaunary 10 revealed his darker side.
He had been photographing gullible women in compromising position and sexually exploiting them for more than a decade.
Malik’s modus operandi included luring women into a love trap, photographing them and blackmailing them later by seeking sexual favours, police said.
Kashtiwar Station House Officer Ifthikhar Chowdhary said following complaints of his misdeeds, a police party caught him red-handed. “He has been doing this for the past 10 years. We recovered obscene photos and CDs of the victims from him,” Chowdhary said.
The police officer said some of Malik’s victims were illiterate and they did not know what he was up to. “He used to exploit married women who had been involved with him before their marriage. He used to blackmail them and extract hefty sums,” he said.
Chowdhary said the police did not want to question any of the girls.
