Slain BJP leader Haren Pandya’s wife, Jagruti has appealed to chief minister Narendra Modi and party leader LK Advani to help her find the men who killed her husband. She showed faith in Modi and Advani and urged them to help her get the case re-investigated.

The appeal comes after the Gujarat high court acquitted 12 accused in the Haren Pandya murder case. Jagruti, however, refused to comment on allegations about Modi’s hand in the murder. She also remained silent when asked about the alleged political motive behind her husband’s death.

It should be noted that late Vitthal Pandya, the father of Haren Pandya, had on several occasions alleged that his son was a victim of political rivalry and murdered at the behest of Modi.

The high court while acquitting the 12 accused had severely criticised the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for what it called a ‘botched up and blinkered’ investigation.

When asked about the possible motive behind her husband's murder, Jagruti said, "The motive behind the killing will be revealed once the real culprits are nabbed."

"I wish to nab the culprits as per the law," she said in reply to a question about whether the reinvestigation should be ordered by Modi, Seeking help of Advani, she said, "My husband was a loyal cadre of the BJP and Advani was like a father to him. I urge him to ensure that the party lends me the support in my quest for justice."

Jagruti said the acquittal has proved that the real killers are still at large.

"I have run out of patience. We live in a democracy and I plan to fight for justice till my last breath. I want to ensure that those who actually killed my husband are caught and punished." She also sought help of Modi in the matter.

"The Chief Minister should declare my quest for justice as his own cause, his own crusade. He should prove himself to be an ideal chief minister by ensuring that those behind the murder are caught and punished."

It is pertinent to note that Jagruti had earlier written a letter to Modi urging him to re-investigate the murder case of her husband. The Chief Minister never replied to the letter written last year.

When asked if she expected a reply from Modi this time given the fact that her earlier letter went unanswered, she said, "Let him give a reply. I will then think of what to do further."
