Attack on J&K Minister an act of cowardice: Leaders

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and a host of leaders today condemned the attack on the entourage of state minister Ali Mohammad Sagar terming it as an act of cowardice.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and a host of leaders today condemned the attack on the entourage of state minister Ali Mohammad Sagar terming it as an act of cowardice.

"These are activities that are condemned by one and all," Omar said adding the state as a whole was against violence and bloodshed.

Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone condemned the attack describing it as an "act of cowardice".

"Such attacks by militants will not weaken the resolve of peace-loving people of the state who strongly aspire for the development and progress in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

Describing the attack as a "dastardly and an inhuman act", CPI(M) state secretary and MLA M Y Tarigami said it was carried out by "elements inimical to peace and progress of Jammu and Kashmir".

Sagar, a senior National Conference leader who holds Rural Development and Law portfolios, escaped unhurt in the attack which left one dead and three injured in downtown Srinagar last night.
