J&K govt sanctions Rs4.8 crore as relief to rain-ravaged people

The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned Rs4.8 crore as immediate relief to people whose houses have been damaged in torrential rains in different parts of the state.

Of this, Rs2 crore each has been sanctioned for Jammu and Kashmir regions, besides Rs4 lakh each for Leh and Kargil districts, minister for revenue, relief and rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said while interacting with officers at Sunderbani in Rajouri district today.

Bhalla asked the district development commissioners (DDCs) to submit a list of flood-affected families in their areas to divisional commissioners of Srinagar and Jammu so that compensation could be disbursed among the victims.

Later the minister visited the residence of Kiran Devi of Tandwal village in Rajouri district who was killed in a militant attack on August 11, 2010 at Thanamandi and handed over an amount of Rs1 lakh as ex-gratia to her kin.
