Governor NN Vohra who is currently on a five-day tour of Ladakh, made the suggestion, while interacting with the Lamas of the monastery during a visit today.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra today emphasised on the need for scientific conservation of the rare and invaluable manuscripts and other collection in the Hemis monastery museum, located about 45 kilometres from here.
The Governor, who is currently on a five-day tour of Ladakh, made the suggestion, while interacting with the Lamas of the monastery during a visit today.
Vohra went around the monastery Museum and library and appreciated the rich collection. He was briefed about the history of this Monastery by the Lamas. The Governor also visited the Stok Palace Museum, where he was received by Raja Jigmet Wangchuk Namgyal.
While interacting with Namgyal, Vohra stressed the need for taking necessary measures for conservation of the Palace, which is of great heritage value.
Earlier, the Governor also visited the Double-Humped Camel Farm which is run by the Animal Husbandry Department at Chuchot, where this rare species of camel is being conserved and propagated.
A colourful cultural programme based on the folk songs and dances of Ladakh was presented by the artists on this occasion.
