An Israeli was arrested on charges of using his satellite phone without permission in Uttarakashi district of Uttarakhand, police said today.
Dori Ishtiyak, arrested yesterday, was produced today before a local court which granted him bail, IGP (Garhwal) MA Ganapati said.
However, the Israeli could not produce two sureties for the bail and was sent to judicial custody.
Police picked up the foreigner for questioning on Thursday when he was found talking on the satellite phone in Dodital area, the IGP said.
He was officially arrested yesterday on charges of using the satellite phone without the permission of concerned authorities, the police officer said.
The Israeli national had arrived in Uttarkashi on February 13 on a tourist visa.
The Israeli embassy had been informed about the incident, the IGP said.
