Israel to set up fruit and vegetable centres in Haryana

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today met ambassador of Israel Mark Sofer and said that the Jewish state will set up two Centres of Excellence for fruits and vegetable in Haryana.

Sofer along with a delegation met Hooda at his office today, an official release said.

Maintaining that these projects would be beneficial for India, particularly Haryana, Sofer said that the Centre of Excellence for Fruits would be set up in Sirsa and the Centre of Excellence for Vegetables in Karnal.

The two centres for fruits and vegetable would cost Rs 9.70 crore and Rs 6 crore respectively.

The same had been approved by the Central Government, the release said.

Hooda said there were ample opportunities for cooperation in water management, Horticulture, Agriculture, Food Processing, Animal Husbandry and Industries.

Haryana was interested in having a collaboration with Israel, especially in the field of veterinary science as the state was planning to set up a Veterinary University at Hissar, the chief minister said.
