"A mob of 200-250 people led by local leaders blocked Mirzapur-Allahabad highway last night in Jigna area. When the police attempted to clear the road block, local residents indulged in heavy brick batting and attacked police station," additional director general of police (Law and Order) Brij Lal told reporters here.

He said that later the mob torched two police vehicles at Jigna police station.

"The mob was protesting against disappearance of Sugna Devi and her two children, who went missing from Bahuriyapur village on October 12," the ADG said.

While the local residents alleged that police was not registering an FIR, Brij Lal said that a case of missing was being registered when the trouble broke out and added, "Stern action will be taken against the trouble makers."
