With an aim to popularise photography in the city and take it to the next level, Photography Design, National Institute of Design (NID) will host 'Chhaya International Conference on Photography of India' in February next year.
The two-day event will be organised in association with University for the Creative Arts (CA), International Centre of Photography (ICP) and New York University (NYU).
The conference will include exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions and presentation of papers on photography. Eminent personalities from the US, UK and Canada are expected to attend and participate in the symposium. "The exhibition will benefit all those interested in photography. We aim to bring in academic discussion into the institute and are inviting students to present their papers as well," said Deepak John Mathew, coordinator of photography department, NID.
"The confluence would majorly discuss photography as a medium of expression, with Indian perspective, in its greater search. The development of photography in the subcontinent and the factors of influence can perhaps best be understood if broken down, conversed and at times confronted," he added.
A separate section for students, photography lovers, art critics, historians is reserved where their research work on topics related to photography will be presented after initial round of selections. An exhibition on history of Indian photography will also be part of this conference.
