You may not have to spend too much time waiting at traffic signals if the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Ahmedabad Traffic Department's plan to implement intelligent traffic system goes as per plan.

Intelligent traffic system is a sensor-based traffic system which will flash either the green or red signal after studying the number of vehicles at crossroads.

This means, once if you get a green signal at a crossroad, chances are that you would not get a red signal at next crossroad. The move will save commuters time spend waiting at crossroads. Municipal Commissioner IP Gautam on Tuesday said that they held a meeting with the traffic department to chalk out plans for controlling the traffic. "A plan is being worked out to start the system by mid-April," said Gautam.

He also said that the traffic department will start a move to effectively synchronies traffic signals on the BRTS corridor."Once the synchronisation is completed, BRTS drivers will also be given training to follow the synchronisation," said Gautam.

He said the drivers training would start once the IPL match in city gets over and the traffic department starts synchronisation of traffic signals.
