The officials of the state intelligence bureau are busy collecting information on police officials who are believed to be hand-in-glove with the bootleggers in the state and allowed them to sell liquor in their jurisdiction.

A source in the state IB told DNA that the police officials and bootleggers nexus in the concerned police stations will be probed. "There are many bootleggers who cannot operate even for a single day without the support of some very specific police personnel," the source said.

However, nobody in the IB was willing to come on record about the police-bootlegger nexus.  "Currently, the police officials at the police sub inspector and police inspector level are probing the nexus," the source said.

The source said police constables were not involved in unearthing the nexus as they could be pressurised by their superiors. The state government will make a list of such police officials and may take relevant actions against them to curb the liquor trade in the state.

"The state government is making a list of such nexus in all districts," the IB source said. "A bootlegger can  perform smoothly only with the help of police officials," an IB source said.

This exercise will identify such police officials and will take actions against them.   Probably this is the first time in the history of the state intelligence bureau that  the officials are busy collecting information on there fellow officers who may have a connection with bootleggers. The state IB is likely to give the report in a short time.
