The body of a two-year-old girl went missing from a cremation ground in Odhav police station area. The police have not registered a complaint but the relatives of the child claimed that the body was stolen probably to perform black magic.

According to sources, the girl, daughter of Odhav resident Harshita Hajwani, had died on November 8. The child's body was buried in the cremation ground in Leelanagar. According to the ritual, the relatives had to light a lamp near the burial place for three days. However on Thursday, when they went to the place they found it dug up.
"We had been telling officials of the cremation ground that something was fishy from the day our child was buried there. However, on Thursday we dug the place and found the body missing," said a close relative of Hajwani.

The relatives informed the police control room and the Odhav police came to the site. However, they did not file a complaint as according to them there was no criminal offence and probably stray dogs might have taken the body away.

But relatives said that the cloth in which the child's body was wrapped during the burial was still present at the site. They claimed that some exorcist might have taken the body but the police are not helping them solve the mystery. Police inspector DS Patel could not be contacted for comment.
