Police investigations have revealed that the SIM card of Amit Jain, the main accused in the kidnapping of six-month-old Anushka Chandani, did not belong to one person and they are investigating the possibility of there being a Bhopal connection to the case.
Police on Monday said that the cellphone that Jain was using had a SIM card that belonged to a security guard in Bhopal, Jain's hometown.

Additionally, the cops have found out that the card originally belonged to a phone that was used by another, third person in Bhopal.

Amit Jain kidnapped young Anushka, the daughter of his employer, at Deepak's brother Sanjay Chandnani's house. Depak along with his wife Ekta and child had come to Rajdeep Villa Bungalows, Prahladnagar Garden, Satellite to have lunch on Saturday with his brother.

During interrogation, Amit Jain told the police that he received a telephone call from his mother seeking help as she was suffering from cancer.

"She needed Rs2 lakh," the abductor said.

At the lunch, he hit upon the idea of kidnapping the girl to get the money. He slipped out of the house with the child when she was put in his care when the others were eating and took her to Kalupur railway station. There he boarded the Secundrabad Express for Rajkot where he thought he would be 'safe'. He told the police that he gave the kid milk and biscuits to keep her pacified.

"I have my mother,  wife and five-year-old  son to look after," Jain
told the police. His plea is that he did not want to hurt the child and did not want the money for his personal needs.

Assistant Commissioner of Police VR Tolia is in charge of the case.
