There have been allegations of rigging in the recruitment process of paramilitaries. But that is set to change. In a first, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will allow aspirants to take home copies of answer-sheets to ensure greater transparency.

The paramilitary will post on its website answers within minutes of a written exam, so that candidates can compare them with their own and get a general idea of their performance.

A senior officer claimed ITBP was the only competitive exam in the country to do so.Sources said all the 5,000 personnel ITBP planned to recruit this year would be able to avail the facility.

Last year, CRPF had asked CBI to investigate some senior officers accused of bribery during recruitment in Bihar.

“There have been cases in paramilitary forces where aspirants unhappy with results have gone to court. The new system will allow self-assessment,” the officer said. There have been instances where over 50,000 candidates applied for 150 seats. “When there is so much competition, it is better to bring more transparency in the recruitment process, so that no one feels cheated,” the officer said.

To further ease pressure on aspirants, ITBP will also text details such as interview dates and results on mobile phones.
“There is a possibility of students not receiving interview calls on time, so we have decided to send them text messages. It is important that aspirants feel they are a part of the recruitment process and not depend on letters and newspapers advertisements for communication,” a source said.
