It will be a Congress mouthpiece for Gennext with "Youth March" being launched from this month-- a venture in which Rahul Gandhi will be playing a key role. In a move to reach out to the youth of the country, the Indian Youth Congress is planning to come out with a monthly journal Yuva Pragati in Hindi and Youth March in English.
IYC chief Ashok Tanwar told PTI that the first issue of the journal would be out this month and the venture is being floated at a time when the membership of the youth body is in the range of around two crore.
"Proposals are being finalised", he merely said when asked whether the journals would carry message from party leader Rahul Gandhi, projected by the Congress as the youth icon. Party chief Sonia Gandhi sends a "Message to Congress Workers" each month through the "Congress Sandesh". The party mouthpiece is the brainchild of the Congress chief coming out for the past decade.
Youth Congress has got a special importance since Rahul as AICC General Secretary became in-charge of the youth body as also the National Students Union of India (NSUI).
Rahul has been advocating direct elections in the youth body and had roped in former CEC J M Lyngdoh and former EC Observer KJ Rao to conduct successful IYC polls in Punjab.
