India, Oman hold talks on ways to enhance cooperation in energy, economy

Sources said they discussed about the India-Oman Joint Investment Fund launched in 2008 with a seed capital of $1 billion. It was increased to $1.5 billion recently.

India and Oman today discussed ways to enhance their cooperation, especially in the fields of energy and economy.

Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed met Omanese Foreign Minister Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah in Muscat and discussed bilateral issues and matters of mutual concern.

Economy and energy topped the agenda of the talks between Ahamed and bin Abdullah and they discussed ways to enhance the cooperation between the two countries.

Sources said they discussed about the India-Oman Joint Investment Fund launched in 2008 with a seed capital of $1 billion. It was increased to $1.5 billion recently.

They discussed ways to get investments and use the fund.

Trade between the two countries had touched $2 billion during 2008-2009 and it increased to $4.2 billion last year, the sources said.

Ahamed also met Deputy Foreign Minister Sayyed Badar Al Husaidi.
