They say, the rules are meant to be broken. And the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) just did that. The IIMA - that pioneered in making Indian Placement Reporting Standard (IPRS) norms- failed to keep date with the deadline set by the institute.

Against the time frame decided by the IIMA in the IPRS- to publish unaudited report of the Summer Placements - 2012 within a week of the completion of the placements- the mecca of management came out with the report on Wednesday after delay of around more than 45 days!

Ideally, the IIMA needed to upload the un-audited report of the summer placements by November 25 last year as the institute declared completion of the summer placement on November 18, 2011.

This is not for the first time that the IIMA has delayed adhering to the deadline set by the institute. Even the Final Placements report- 2011 was published after delay of around one month.

With the summer placement report this season, the IIM-A ignored to come up with the un-audited report completely and e-mailed reports immediately when DNA made a call to chairman of the placement committee Prof Saral Mukherjee.

Talking to DNA, Prof Mukherjee said that they chose not to come out with un-audited report as the gap between the audited and unaudited reports was not much.

"This is the first time that we followed IPRS in summer placements. So, we did not know that decided time frame in the IPRS would be feasible. Now, that we realised that it is not feasible, we will extend the time limit to come out with audited report," said Mukherjee.

He stating that the delay was also because the recruiters were not sharing location details of the intern students.

In the audited report, mentioning specifics like type of internship offer, its location etc is mandatory according to IPRS.
