IAF helicopter makes emergency landing near Andhra village

'The helicopter took off from Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bangalore and was proceeding towards Hyderabad, but made a forced emergency landing at a field due to poor weather conditions,' said a senior police officer.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter carrying seven senior officers landed under emergency conditions this morning at an agricultural field in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh due to inclement weather, police said.

"The helicopter took off from Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bangalore and was proceeding towards Hyderabad, but made a forced emergency landing at a field due to poor weather condition," a senior police officer told PTI over the phone.

All seven senior officials of the IAF on board were safe.

The Met department had yesterday issued a warning of heavy rains in some districts of Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh as the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal had crossed the South Orissa coast.
