The moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference today said it has constituted an advisory committee to take other leaders into confidence before starting dialogue for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
"Hurriyat has constituted an advisory committee to hold direct talks with Syed Ali Shah Geelani (chairman of hardline faction of Hurriyat), Mohammad Yaseen Malik (JKLF) and other leaders so that a consensus could be reached and the dialogue is carried forward with India and Pakistan," chairman of the moderate separatist amalgam Mirwaiz Umer Farooq told a congregation at the shrine of Sufi saint Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani at Chrar-e-Sharief, 30 km from here.
Referring to the ruling National Conference and opposition Peoples Democratic Party, he said if the leadership of the two parties were well wishers of the Kashmiris, they should join the Hurriyat ranks, leaving power politics, to achieve a bigger goal.
"Elections, concessions, benefits and transfer of power will not resolve Kashmir issue but the solution to the vexed issue could be achieved by taking into consideration the wishes and aspirations of the people," he said.
The Hurriyat chairman made it clear to the India and Pakistan not to thrust any solution on the people of Kashmir and instead respect their wishes and aspirations.
Referring to the offer of dialogue by Centre, he said, "This is for the first time in 60 years that Union Home minister P Chidambaram described Kashmir as a political issue and expressed desire to resolve it."
