Humayun Tomb bags National Tourism Award

One of the most outstanding monuments in the country, it is considered as a landmark in the development of Mughal architecture.

Humayun Tomb has been selected for the National Tourism Award in the category of best maintained tourist-friendly monument.

The award was received by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials from vice president Hamid Ansari at a function here yesterday. 

The tomb was built by Humayun's wife Bega Begum to express her love for her husband, who was the second Mughal emperor.

One of the most outstanding monuments in the country, it is considered as a landmark in the development of Mughal architecture. It was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, an
architect of Iranian descent.
