Off the streets of India, another protest is gathering support as the social networking websites go bizarre with increasing support to Anna Hazare with people tweeting and updating their Facebook status. The people are terming the situation as 'emergency-part 2'.

The Bollywood fraternity, extending their support to Anna, condemned the police action and went public with their views on micro-blogging site Twitter terming the action as "unconstitutional".

Other than these, there is a section of people who say that they do not support Hazare, but they believe it was unconstitutional of the government to detain Anna and his supporters.

Adding to the ‘Anna-craze’ lineage are those who do not want anything to do with Anna and are thus tweeting about anything other than Anna or his protest. But they too use the famous keyword- ‘Anna’, mentioning how they are trying to keep away from it.

The official page of 'India Against Corruption' on Facebook received almost three lakh supporters until 6pm with more people joining the drive. On the other hand, over two lakh supporters flooded the fan page of Anna Hazare.

An SMS was also being circulated which said - "The government has put condition to get 25 crore people to support Jan Lokpal. To give your support, call 02261550789 (as given by Kiran Bedi). Its free call. your call gets disconnected n your number will be registered. N u will gt msg also. Plz do save India" (sic)

The Anna supporters said that they received innumerable calls on their Mumbai number with people from the remotest corners of the country calling them.

If BlackBerry applications were blamed for spreading riots in UK, here’s another example of the power the famous messaging service holds. The BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), has reportedly formed a group called 'Join Anna Hazare', whose members are mounting by the hours.

Anna Hazare - the word of the day when it comes to social network!
