House of Gujarat Congress MLA’s kin burgled

The house of a Congress MLA's brother was burgled in Naranpur area on Tuesday. The thieves ransacked the house and escaped with cash and valuables worth Rs9.37 lakh. The victim's brother, who happens to be an MLA, informed the police about the theft.

According to Naranpura police station officials, the complainant Satyam Parmar lodged an FIR stating that some unidentified persons broke into his house and took away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs9.37 lakh. The incident happened while the house was unoccupied.

Police said Parmar was admitted to hospital after he fell ill and the house was empty for the past three days. His wife and daughter are in London to attend a function. He stated in the complaint that on Tuesday when he returned home he found the main gate damaged and the house was ransacked. Parmar said the cupboards of his bedroom were broken into and all the valuables were missing. He stated in the FIR that there was Rs1 lakh cash along with several gold ornaments totalling Rs9.37 lakh.

Cops said prima facie it seems that the thieves had done a recce of the house and struck when they found it unoccupied. Police have no clue about involvement of a gang or an individual in the incident.
