Hospitalised Amit Shah could not appear in court

Jail officials informed the special CBI court judge AY Dave that as Shah was admitted to the city civil hospital, he cannot be presented before the court through video conferencing.

Former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, arrested in the fake encounter case of Soharabuddin Shaikh, could not appear before the court through video conferencing from Sabarmati jail as he is hospitalised.

Jail officials informed the special CBI court judge AY Dave that as Shah was admitted to the city civil hospital, he cannot be presented before the court through video conferencing.

The court has now asked the jail authorities to present Shah on September 15 via video conferencing from Sabarmati jail.

Jail authorities have to present Shah before the court every 15 days as he is in Judaical custody. Today was the date to present him in front of the court.

Earlier, the court had given Shah permission to exempt from personal appearance in the court and had asked him to be present through video conferencing facility installed at the jail and court.

Shah has been admitted to G-6 ward of the city civil hospital on Wednesday after he complained of chest pain.
