Honour killing? Lovers' bodies found hanging with injury marks

Police said the lovers had eloped from their houses in Subana village a few days ago and a complaint was registered against 22-year-old Sandeep on August 5.

Bodies of young lovers were found hanging from a tree with injury marks on their knees at a village in Jhajjar district and police are investigating if it is a case of honour killing.

Police said the lovers had eloped from their houses in Subana village a few days ago and a complaint was registered against 22-year-old Sandeep on August 5, Jhajjar police chief Saurabh Singh said.

Asked if it was a case of honour killing he said they were investigating the case from all angles. "Things will become clear once we get the post-mortem and forensic report."
Police said there were some injury marks on their knees and motor-cycle of Sandeep had been found at the spot.

In a previous case of suspected honour killing, Anil (22) and Rani (17) of Balhamba village in Rohtak district were murdered on August 5 allegedly after they were found in an objectionable position.

Police had later booked girl's parents, uncles and brothers in the case.

Last month, a 21-year-old man Ved Pal Mor was lynched to death by a mob of 400 villagers in Jind district's Singhwal village for marrying against the wishes of his community.
