THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With its 'vibrating' condom 'Crezendo' sparking protests from certain quarters in Madhya Pradesh, public sector Hindustan Latex Limited on Thursday said it had no plan to withdraw the product entirely but would not mind pulling it out from the market there if the state government objected to its sale.

"We have no plans to withdraw it completely. The product has been well-received by many parts of the country," an HLL official said.

Denying that the vibrator that forms part of Crezendo was meant as a 'sex toy', he said, "HLL had never intended nor marketed the product as a sex toy".

Since its launch, Crezendo had generated considerable consumer interest and demand all over the country. It was launched in the wake of market surveys suggesting fall in condom use. A major reason cited for this was lack of pleasure in the use of condom and Crezendo was introduced as a pleasure-enhancer, he said.

"Wherever it was sold, it has not generated any adverse reaction and it has been well-received throughout the country. But in the likelihood of Madhya Pradesh government not allowing the sale of Crezendo, it would be withdrawn from the market in that state," he added.
