The kidnapping of Dinesh Adani, the first cousin of business tycoon Gautam Adani turned out to be a drama indeed!

The 'kidnapping' was orchestrated by Dinesh himself out of depression when he failed to find a suitable groom and bride for his daughter and son.

The Ahmedabad police traced him within five hours of the first call made by Dinesh informing that he has been kidnapped.

In a joint operation by a team of detection of the crime branch (DCB) and Bhavnagar police, Dinesh was traced from the Bhavnagar ST stand. The police smelt a rat from the very first hour of the kidnapping and also initiated a parallel investigation in this direction.

Deputy commissioner of police, Zone 1, Brajesh Jha told reporters that Dinesh called up to his family again and again and told them that he had been kidnapped, which was not possible if he had been really abducted.

Jha further told reporters that his primary questioning had revealed that Dinesh was depressed due to social problems and did all this only out of depression. During his questioning, police found out that he was worried about his children's marriages.
A police source said: "His son Prashant (34) and his daughter Sonia (30) are still not married and he has failed to find suitable life partners for them."

The source added that Dinesh was not ready to marry his children outside his caste, which kept him worried all these days.

Apart from that, both he and his wife remained ill due to old age, which also depressed him. Dinesh is the son of the first uncle of Gautam Adani. He works in a polymer company and gets a salary of Rs9000 per month, while his son Prashant is employed with the Adani Group and earns Rs20,000 per month. His daughter too works with the Adani Group.
