Heavy rains in most parts of northern India, flood-like situation in Uttar Pradesh

Intermittent rains in Uttar Pradesh resulted in the rise of the level of Ganga in Fatehgarh, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia.

Major rivers in Uttar Pradesh today continued to swell resulting in flood-like situation in a number of districts in the state as heavy rains lashed most parts of northern India.
 
Intermittent rains in Uttar Pradesh resulted in the rise of the level of Ganga in Fatehgarh, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia. Yamuna is also swelling in Baghpat, Agra, Auraiya, Kalpi and Naini (Allahabad), while river Gomti is rising at Sultanpur.
 
Ghagra river is flowing at danger mark at Ayodhya.
 
Uttarakhand received moderate to heavy rainfall with Met department issuing warning of more rains in the coming days which might also trigger landslides in the state.
 
Heavy rains lashed Dehradun since morning, rising the water level of various rain-fed small rivers like Rispana, Bindal and Song considerably.
 
Army and Air Force rescued three marooned persons and relocated 400 families hit by flash floods triggered by heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.
 
The heavy downpours also washed away many hutments of Gujjar and Bakkarwal tribe in Khurian Baikh area.
 
However, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan received scattered rainfall.
 
The maximum temperatures remained steady in most parts of Himachal Pradesh with monsoon remaining weak and few places experiencing moderate rains.
 
The state capital Shimla had traces of rains and maximum temperature remained at 23.6 degree Celsius against yesterday's 23.9 deg C.
 
Una remained the hottest in the state with mercury hovering around 36 deg C.
 
Hamirpur was the wettest in the region with 34 mm of rains, followed by Kandaghat 22 mm, Bhoranj 17 mm, Sandhol 15 mm, Baldwara and Ghamroor 13 mm each.
 
The MeT office forecast rain or thundershowers at few places in the state tomorrow.
 
With the South West monsoon getting weak, scattered rains continued in parts of Rajasthan.
 
Sriganganagar recorded a maximum rainfall of 12 mm, while Kota received a maximum rainfall of 7.2 mm.
 
There was drizzling in some parts of Jaipur. Rest parts of the desert state were hot and humid.
 
Thundershowers may occur at some isolated places in parts of the state tomorrow, a MeT forecast said.
 
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh remained up to three degree celsius above normal due to absence of rains.
 
High humidity level (between 75-90%) in the region added to the woes of the people.
 
The Met forecast moderate to rather heavy rains at a few places in the region tomorrow.
 
Hisar was hottest in the region with 36.9 deg C.
