The day-to-day hearing on the revision petition of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore challenging his conviction in the Ruchika molestation case could not take place in the Punjab and Haryana high court today as the judge was unwell.

Rathore's counsel and wife Abha and the CBI had already completed their arguments, and it was lawyer of complainant Madhu Parkash who is being heard by the court.

As the case came up for hearing before justice Jitendra Chauhan, the parties were informed that the judge was not feeling well and would now take up the case on Monday.

The judge had adjourned the case till Monday, Pankaj Bhardwaj, who is counsel for Madhu Parkash, told reporters.

14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra, a budding tennis player, had committed suicide three years after the incident on August 12, 1990.

On May 25, a local court had awarded 18-month prison term to Rathore for molesting Ruchika. A day later, Rathore, lodged in Burail Jail, filed a revision petition before the Punjab and Haryana high court against his conviction.
