Eleven-year-old Manan Patel, the student of HB Kapadia School, Shahibaug, who died on Monday night, may have suffered an epileptic fit. This was suggested by the doctors who treated him.

"He was with his classmate on the school playground, awaiting his turn during a PT class, when he complained of dizziness. There was frothing at his mouth which is asign of epilepsy," said surgeon of Chandramani Hospital, Shahibaug, Dr RM Agrawal.

"The school took immediate action and put him in a 108 ambulance. There, his pulse was detected as feeble. There was no heartbeat when he was brought to the hospital. We immediately used all methodsto revive his heart beat, which bore fruit after 30 minutes,” said Agrawal. His pulse also stabilised after some time.

"He had faster heart beat owing due to medication. For five hours, Patel's eco-cardiogram showed no complications. At 10pm his paediatrics neurophysician Dr Siddharth Shah opined that since the ecogram had no complications his brain should be scanned to rule out internal damage. We decided to send the boy through ICU-on-wheels to Medimax Investigative Centre for an MRI," said Agrawal.

As soon as Manan was brought out of ICU, his heart stopped beating. After half an hour, the doctors declared him dead.
