Ahmedabad: He has done it once again. After winning three awards in two successive years by the Limca Book of Records, for the third consecutive year Nikhil Parekh, a poet, won two awards in the category of 'literature' under 'poems'. The award to Parekh was confirmed in October 2008, while he received the certificate recently. His name features in the recently-released Limca Book of Records.
He won the award for being the first Indian to be featured in the McGill English Dictionary of Rhymes for his poem 'Come let's embrace our new religion'. "The poem is about God and his creations. No human being is superior than Him," said Parekh about his poem.
The second Limca award has been given for being the first Indian poet of the year in 2006 to win an award from the Canadian Federation of Poets, Canada's national poetry body, endorsed by the Governor General of Canada, Michelle Jean. "I received this award in April 2007. But suddenly, some time later it struck me whether there was any other Indian who has bagged the award. Fortunately, there was none."
After this, Parekh completed all the formalities to apply for the Limca award and eventually won it.
Asked Parekh about the awards, he says, "I feel eclectic that I am being appreciated for my writings, which I consider my life. However, I have never followed any role model in my life as I think God is the greatest poet himself." Parekh has written various poems of Love and God which he has published into books now.
