The Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (Cept) University has become a national partner organisation of the Cities Development Initiative in Asia (CDIA), an initiative of the Asian Development Bank, Manila, and German Agency for International Co-operation.

The main focus of CDIA’s activities is to support city infrastructure development and project implementation. CDIA is active in other Asian countries like Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, China, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

In India, CDIA has supported activities in Chennai, Cochin, Pimpri-Chinchwad and is likely to expand its activities in several other mid-sized cities such as Vijaywada, Faridabad and Vizag among others.

As part of the tie-up, Cept faculties will contribute to projects in Indian cities in aspects like capacity building, project planning and implementation, said a faculty Prof Saswat Bandhopadhyay.

Cept and CDIA, along with other partners, are planning to work together in contextualisation of City Infrastructure Investment Prioritisation (CIIP) and Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) toolkit for Indian cities. These toolkits help cities to prioritise their infrastructure projects and investments as well as support structuring bankable infrastructure projects.
