Gujarat experiences isolated rain, Ahmedabad slight drizzle, on Monday

The onset of winds in the evening following a hot day resulted in the city getting a slight drizzle on Monday. With 76% moisture in the air, moisture laden winds cooled down the city. The maximum temperature had risen to 38.4 degree Celsius which was 3 degrees above its normal for this period.

While the city got a slight drizzle, the state got scattered rainfall at isolated places in south Gujarat region and in north Gujarat region and Saurashtra on Monday. The weather was mainly dry in Kutch.

Chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are in Gujarat region: Pardi-3, Sami-2, Umargaon, Valsad, Vapi, Ankleshwar, Bansda, Daman, Mahuva, Valod, Jalalpur and Navsari - 1 cm each and in Saurashtra and Kutch - Kalyanpur-4, Dhrangdhra-2, Bhavnagar-1. State got 0.5 mm rain at Dwarka; 04 mm rain at Naliya, 0.6 mm rain at Surat and 0.4 mm at Vadodara, notes the state's weather office.

The state revenue department notes that on Monday 13 districts and 36 talukas got rain. The highest recorded rain was in Jamnagar -- 1.47 cm in the last 24 hours. In June 1 -July 4, out of 225 talukas, 136 have got rain while 89 are yet to get any.
The latest synoptic situation shows that morning's off shore trough on sea level chart extending from south Gujarat coast to Kerala coast persists.

The weather office's forecast for the state notes that light to moderate thundershowers will occur at a few places in all districts of south Gujarat region, Saurashtra, Diu, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli and at isolated places in all districts of north Gujarat region and in Kutch. Forecast for the city notes that there is possibility of drizzle and rain in some areas in the next 48 hours.
